Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Susan Glaser for Conducting and Coordinating Three Statewide Events Known as the Braille Challenge for Blind and Visually Impaired Students, Visually Impaired Grant (Curriculum and Instruction Division, Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired – FIMC-VI)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the Agreement for Technical Services with Ms. Glaser to provide coordination, administration, and data collection for the Braille Challenge in a contractor/subcontractor relationship for the period of January 13 through May 10, 2010. During the 2010 events, Ms. Glaser will provide the following services:
- Advertising the event through mailings, emails, and meetings with parents and teachers
- Creating and maintaining the Braille Challenge website
- Reporting data on Braille reading and writing proficiency of participants to Florida Department of Education (FLDOE)
- Coordinating activities with the national Braille Challenge organization, including collecting data and reporting scores
In collaboration with FIMC-VI, Ms. Glaser has successfully managed the statewide Braille Challenge to the satisfaction of FLDOE for the past two years.
FIMC-VI is a statewide resource center assisting Florida’s 67 school districts with the specialized materials needs of blind and visually impaired students. FIMC-VI operates under FDOE through an annual agreement with The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida.

Funds of $9,862.25 are included in the divisional special revenue/federal program budget, Project 1717, FIMC-VI. All expenditures for this activity are reimbursed by FDOE.
