EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On October 20, 2009, The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) awarded $454,384 to HCPS to implement year two of the Teacher Quality grant, which provides teachers with access to research-based professional development addressing Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) in language arts and social studies. The HCPS content area teachers who were identified by K-12 language arts and social studies content supervisors during year one and University of South Florida (USF) College of Arts and Sciences professors will continue to edit materials, participate in all Saturday “Train-the-Trainer” trainings, and participate in training teachers from HCPS and the School District of Pasco County. Additionally, the website developed during year one of the grant will continue to be developed and maintained by Corey Peloquin. Dr. Bruce Jones from USF’s Anchin Center will continue in his role as the grant’s external evaluator. Compensation for these services will total $163,704.62. The specific amount for each provider will differ according to contracted hours and/or assigned responsibilities.
