Approve Award of Contract for Metal Playcourt Canopy at
Apollo Beach, Cork, McKitrick, and Robinson Elementary Schools

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This design-build project is being planned by the Facilities Division. The scope of work provides for metal playcourt canopies at Apollo Beach, Cork, McKitrick, and Robinson Elementary Schools. Contract award is being recommended concurrent with and contingent upon approval of matching funds for the project.

The project was advertised and eleven bids were received (see attachment). The bid included alternates for electrical service and an intercom at all four sites; and new basketball backboards, fans and lighting at selected sites as indicated on the attachment. Award of the contract for the base bid and all alternates to the low bidder, Halfacre Construction Company, is recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The contract amount being awarded is $552,112. Expenditures are funded as follows: $95,139.50 (from Apollo Beach's contribution), $87,370.50 (from Cork's contribution), $74,462.50 (from McKitrick's contribution), $95,139.50 (from Robinson's contribution), and $50,000 for each school (from Local Millage Matching Funds).
