Approve Contractual Agreement with Carlton Palms Educational Center, Inc. for an Autism Spectrum Disorder Student, 2010/2011 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the agreement for the Florida Department of Children and Families to place a 12 year-old student (J.S.) with a primary exceptionality of Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Carlton Palms Educational Center, Inc. due to significant behavior/physical control problems.  The primary emphasis of this placement is comprehensive assessment and the development of effective behavior management strategies.  This agreement shall be in effect retroactively from September 23, 2010 through June 30, 2011.  The delay is due to completion of the Individual Education Plan (IEP).  Educational services to the student were not interrupted due to this delay.

The district is responsible for the assurance of the provision of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services for the duration of this placement.  The full-time equivalent (FTE) generated for the 2010/2011 school year has been calculated based on the Base Student Allocation for Hillsborough County and the Matrix of Services developed for the student.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds generated from the FEFP/FTE in the amount of $12,949.07 represent the estimated total educational cost and are included in the divisional general operating budget.
