SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Appointment of Architectural and Construction Management Firms on a Continuing Contract Basis
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Florida Statutes authorize continuing contracts for professional architectural, engineering, and construction management services for projects for which construction costs do not exceed $2,000,000, and for study activities when the fee for such professional services does not exceed $200,000. The Board previously approved continuing contracts for architects and construction managers in 2007, and added engineers and additional construction managers in 2008. To distribute the selection of architects, engineers and construction managers for continuing contracts over multiple years and provide for three to five year contract terms, staff planned for selection of architects and construction managers in 2010, mechanical and electrical engineers in 2011, and structural, civil and environmental engineers in 2012. This agenda recommends architects and construction managers for continuing service agreements. Florida Statutes and School Board policy outline the process and requirements for selection of architects, engineers, and construction managers. Attachment A summarizes the process. The process provides for the identification of the most highly qualified firms by a Professional Services Selection Committee that includes representatives from several District divisions and the community. Attachment B identifies the specific committee members participating in this selection and the organization represented by each. The Committee interviewed each firm selected for further consideration as a result of the preliminary screening. In lieu of the ranking of firms, the Committee recommended approval of continuing contracts with all firms deemed qualified following the interviews. Recommended firms are listed on the continuation sheets. |
