SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Review of Preliminary Results from the First Year of the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) Project and an Overview of Communications Efforts Underway in Conjunction with the Empowering Effective Teachers (EET) Initiative (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Tom Kane, Steve Cantrell, with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and their research partners, have released some preliminary year-one data from the Measures of Effective Teaching study.  Research thus far suggests that multiple measures of teacher effectiveness provide the best methodology for evaluating teachers.  In particular, the value-added data serve as the best predictors of student success both from year to year with a given teacher and from one class to another.

The Empowering Effective Teachers team continues to update and inform district employees and community members of the initiative's progress  and to keep them apprised of upcoming events.
