Presentation of Standard Form Continuing Service Contract for Design Professionals (Facilities Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
District staff previously developed and implemented a custom design agreement for use in the Board's major construction projects. This agreement strengthened insurance and other performance requirements to offer greater protections, as suggested by the Board. The attachment presents a version of the agreement modified for use on smaller projects (construction cost not more than $2 million) that are designed by firms on the District's Continuing Services Consultant list. Developed jointly by Facilities Division and the District's Risk Manager, the agreement allows for lower levels of insurance when warranted by the scope of these smaller projects. The lower insurance requirements reduce design costs and enhance the ability of small businesses to participate in the District's construction program, while maintaining prudent coverage in light of the reduced risks posed by smaller projects. |
