SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Interagency Agreement Between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities, the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Hillsborough Kids, Inc., and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) continues to be a leader in the development of collaborative relationships with other agencies, which support student achievement and encourage post-secondary pursuits.  An interagency agreement was proposed for the school district and local community agencies to coordinate services to improve educational, vocational, and life outcomes for children served by the Florida Child Welfare System.  A group of child welfare and education leaders in Hillsborough County has worked to develop a working agreement based on this model.

This agreement is designed to improve the sharing of information, enhance internal and external communication among agency partners, provide joint trainings, and involve families, educators, and agency staff in case planning.  This will assist with the unique needs of children in care and provide supportive interventions.  Numerous district programs have worked collaboratively to provide support for the Interagency Agreement.  Adult Education, Career and Technical Education, Exceptional Student Education, School Social Work Services, and Transportation were all involved.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

A portion of the Coordinator of School Social Work Services time is designated to working with the agencies to fulfill the Interagency Agreement.  This time will be used to provide services for children in the local welfare programs.

EVALUATION
Agency partners will meet quarterly to oversee, manage, evaluate, and implement this agreement.  Recommendations will be made to improve local policies and procedures, which impact children served by the Florida Child Welfare System.
