Approve Job Descriptions for Custodian, Crew Leader, Head Custodian I, II and III
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

To address the goal of Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) and Hillsborough Schools Employee Federation (HSEF) to develop a career ladder for custodians, job descriptions for Custodian, Crew Leader and Head Custodian I, II and III have been revised.  In addition to the conversion of the old job description to the new HCPS standard format, changes in minimum qualifications and mandated training for custodians have been included.  (Job descriptions are attached.)

Specifically, the education requirement has been raised from completion of 6th grade to completion of 9th grade for custodian.  In addition, specific training is now mandated for each position to progress to the next position on the career ladder (from Custodian, to Crew Leader, to Head Custodian).  Substantive changes in qualifications require Board approval.

• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

No additional financial impact.  There will be no change in the salaries of custodians due to revised job descriptions.
