Matching Funds Projects at Palm River and Schwarzkopf Elementary Schools (Facilities Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Matching Funds program was established in 2001-2002 by the Superintendent to assist schools and their partners in raising funds for capital school improvements by matching dollars in any amount up to $50,000.  On October 26, 2009, a committee composed of elementary, middle and high school principals, and the Facilities Division met to review and update the program procedures to be effective for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.  (Revised procedures are attached).

District Matching Funds are requested for a shade cover at Palm River Elementary School and for replacement of the existing playground, cafeteria tables, Elmos and LCD projectors for Schwarzkopf Elementary School.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total project expenditures are as follows:  Palm River Elementary School:  $25,000.00 ($10,000.00 District's matching contribution, $10,000.00 Palm River Elementary School's contribution, $5,000.00 Area Director's contribution).  Schwarzkopf Elementary School:  $34,780.28 ($17,390.14 District's matching contribution, $17,390.14 Schwarzkopf Elementary School's contribution).   Expenditures are funded as follows: a minimum contribution of 50% of the project cost from the school and the balance from Millage Matching Funds, not to exceed $50,000.
