SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Reorganization of the Grants and Research Department
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Grants and Research Department has through successful grant applicatons realized significant financial supports to the School District for many years. Over the past six years, the average yearly income added to our special revenue budget has increased to over 50 million dollars, not including the 100 million dollars received from the Bill and Melinda Gates grant.
Grant funds have been used to provide Academic Professional Development for all teachers K-Adults, classroom resources for teaching and learning, additional training for paras, security, bus drivers, Student Nutrition Services staff, and other Hillsborough Schools Employees Federation employees (HSEF), and cutting edge technologies to prepare our students for the 21st Century. By consolidating all district grant writers, the proposed reorganization will allow the Grants office to generate more grant submissions therefore increasing our special revenue funds. |

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
To be financially responsible, the cost of the staff in the grants office is being transferred to the allowable indirect cost of the grants earned at approximately $ 724,620. A performance pay process will be developed and defined relative to the existing district performance pay programs. The cost of staff estimated to be transferred is attached.
