Matching Funds Projects at Burnett Middle and Thonotosassa Elementary Schools (Facilities Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Matching Funds Program was established in 2001-2002 by the Superintendent to assist schools and their partners in raising funds for capital school improvements by matching dollars in any amount up to $50,000.  On October 26, 2009, a committee composed of elementary, middle and high school principals and the Facilities Division met to review and update the program procedures to be effective for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.  (Revised procedures are attached).  

District Matching Funds are requested for wireless Internet connection capability throughout the school at Burnett Middle School and for a shade cover and outdoor seating at Thonotosassa Elementary School.

• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total project expenditures are as follows:  Burnett Middle School:  $28,622.10 ($14,311.05 District's matching contribution, $14,311.05 Burnett Middle School's contribution);  Thonotosassa Elementary School:  $21,518.30 ($10,759.15 District's matching contribution, $10,759.15 Thonotosassa Elementary School's contribution).  Expenditures are funded as follows:  A minimum contribution of 50% of the project cost from the school and the balance from Millage Matching Funds, not to exceed $50,000.
