We request approval of the renewal agreements for the continuation of educational services by the Department of Adult Education to incarcerated adults at facilities operated by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The Agreement for Educational Services (Non-Financial) establishes the responsibilities of the district and the Sheriff's Office for delivery of instruction that includes Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Educational Development (GED) preparation as well as instruction for students seeking to earn a state of Florida high school diploma. In addition, skills training is offered in alterations, carpentry, horticulture, culinary arts, and computer applications.

The Agreement for Educational Services (Financial) renews the commitment by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office - Inmate Canteen Fund to compensate the district at the approved rate for instructional services. The approved rate for 2011/2012 will increase from $2.18 per student hour for vocational skills training to $2.27 per student hour and from $1.08 per student hour for adult general education instruction to $1.12 per student hour.
