Accept the Piggyback of City of Tampa Bid 11031711 for Suspension System Repairs Cooperative Between Tampa Spring Company and City of Tampa, Florida (Business Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The district will be utilizing the City of Tampa, Florida, agreement to purchase materials and repair services of suspension systems for trucks and buses. Examples of services include replacement of front end springs, replacement of bearings, and front end alignments. All services are based on time and materials.
The term of the contract is for one year beginning April 15, 2011. Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) rule 6A-1.102 and district policy allow purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, Department of Management Services (DMS), etc., at or below specified prices. |

The estimated annual contract total is between $220,000 and $230,000. General funds are available in the Transportation Department budget. Through negotiations, the cost for these services was reduced from $65 per hour to $60 per hour and the materials mark-up was reduced from 30 percent to 28 percent. Based on the previous year's total expenditures, Hillsborough County Public Schools will save an estimated $24,000. | |
