Approve Amendment #1 to Contract for Full Service Schools with the State of Florida, Department of Health (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Amendment #1 to the multi-year contract is in effect July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013.  Its purpose is to expand health services and increase access to health care in high poverty areas.  The Full Service School funds provide health services to designated schools (Desoto, Just, Oak Park, Palm River, and Sulphur Springs Elementary Schools and Dowdell Middle School) in Hillsborough County.  This bi-annual renewal is comprised of flow-through funds from the Hillsborough County Health Department.

• Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Funds in the amount of $845,544 are provided by the Legislature from general revenue and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) federal dollars in specific line items for Full Service Schools. 

EVALUATION

Annual reports are submitted to the Department of Health.  These reports contain data regarding health services provided by school district employees.
