The approved District Five Year Plan includes the project for renovation of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system at Lewis Elementary School. On October 5, 2010, the Board appointed Ossi Consulting Engineers, Inc. to provide design services. The scope of work provides for new ductwork; replacement of the existing air handlers; replacement of lighting and acoustical ceilings; a new energy management control system; a new fire sprinkler system; and renovation of the existing data network and security systems.

The project was advertised and bids received (see attachment). Award of the contract to J. R. Long, Inc., the low bidder for the base bid and alternates selected for implementation as indicated in the attachment,  is recommended.

Total funds in the amount of $2,242,223 are included in the District Capital Outlay: Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Maintenance. The contract amount being awarded is $2,036,720.
