SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Disposal of Portables that are Beyond Economical Repair (BER) (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Per State Statue 274.05 and School Board Policy 7310, the Board may sell, transfer, or dispose of any real or tangible property, which they deem no longer serviceable or usable in the current educational program.

Due to extensive repairs, the cost of moving and setting up, or replacement with modular units; the attached list of portables has been declared BER by the Facilities Division.  Portables that have structural or environmental concerns will be demolished.  The portables being donated to the apprentice programs will continue to be used by the district for instructional programs, but all future maintenance cost will be the responsibility of the apprentice hall.  The remaining portables will be made available as surplus and sold at auction.  If no bid is received, the portable will be demolished.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate best financial practices • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The demolition cost of a portable ranges from $2,200 to $2,600, depending on the quantity to be demolished at the location.  The cost of demolition is paid from the Maintenance Portable Budget.  Any entity that accepts a surplus portable will be responsible for all moving and associated costs.  The monies received for any portable sold at auction will be deposited into the General Fund.  The expected disposal of these portables will occur during the summer and the Fixed Asset Master File will be reduced by the August 1st net book value of $544,141.91.
