On October 26, 2010, the Board approved the issuance of approximately $37,935,000 of Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCBs) for renovation of roofs and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at various District sites.  The QSCBs provided for acceleration of roof and HVAC renovations previously scheduled in the five-year plan.  The roof renovations are being executed in phases to avoid over-tasking available roofing contractors and ensure competitive pricing.  (The allocation of QSCB funded projects is indicated in an attachment.) 

District staff selected Weber and Tinnen, PA from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services for a project to replace selected roof areas at Forest Hills, Broward, Sulphur Springs, and Shore Elementary Schools.

The project was advertised and bids received (see attached bid tabulation). Award of the contract to the low bidder, Southern Roofing Company, Inc., is recommended.

Total funds in the amount of $903,000 are included in the District Capital Outlay: Qualified School Construction Bonds. The contract amount being awarded is $902,814.
