SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve  Acceptance of the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. Grant Funds by the Career, Technical, and Adult Education Department, 2011/2012 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Once the official notification occurs, we request approval to accept the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. grant funds to implement a career exploration and workplace readiness skills four-week summer camp with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines.  This grant is a partnership with Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc., Hillsborough Community College, Junior Achievement and Hillsborough County Public Schools and will serve 375 eligible 14-16 year old TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) students.  Periodic events will take place throughout the 2011/2012 school year to enrich the students understanding of the STEM careers and post-secondary opportunities.

Approximate funds of  $750,000 will be awarded to support this program.

EVALUATION

Performance evaluation measures are determined by Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc.  The results of the evaluation are shared with all stakeholders.
