SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Recognition of WFUS-FM Radio Station, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, and Toyota of Tampa Bay for Attendance Alliance with Hillsborough County Public Schools and Students with Perfect Attendance K-12 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Eleven years ago, Deputy Superintendent Beth Shields initiated an annual attendance incentive program for schools that meet or exceed the district's goal of 96% student attendance.  This year nine students will be recognized and receive awards for achieving 13 years of perfect attendance.  Those students are:

  • Britni Baker, Armwood High School
  • Corey Cook, Sickles High School
  • Brandon Czerwik, East Bay High School
  • Vinh Dang, Alonso High School
  • Daniel Flores, Sickles High School
  • Taylor Folino, Plant High School
  • Gerrell Fontenette, Blake High School
  • Ethan Fowler, Newsome High School
  • Julianna Velez, Bloomingdale High School

 The district would also like to recognize the following community partnerships:

  • WFUS-FM Radio and Clear Channel Broadcasting for their support of positive student attendance in Hillsborough County Public Schools through their Public Service Announcements played daily throughout the Tampa Bay area,
  • Toyota of Tampa Bay for their partnership with Hillsborough County Public Schools to award a car to a student who has exemplary attendance, and
  • Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union for providing scholarships to students with K-12 perfect attendance. 
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds totaling $2,000 for the purchase of recognition plaques were paid by the Student Services and Federal Programs 2010/2011 Part 1 budget.
EVALUATION
At the end of each school year, the Supervisor of Attendance will conduct a search of the district's Student Data Base to determine seniors who qualify for the Perfect Attendance Award K-12.
