| Accept the Piggyback of Bid #715-001-07-1, Library Materials Between Various Vendors and the State of Florida, Department of Management Services, Tallahassee, Florida (Business Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| The district will be utilizing the State of Florida, Department of Management Services, Florida, (DMS) agreement to purchase library books, library materials, audio books, Web-based library products, DVD's, and eBooks to be used in school media centers.
The term of the DMS contract is for five years beginning March 1, 2007 through February 29, 2012, and may be renewed for up to five years. Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) rule 6A-1.012 and district policy allow purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, Department of Management Services (DMS), etc., at or below specified prices. The Superintendent is authorized to approve the renewal agreement for the terms of the specifications. Our rationale in utilizing the State of Florida agreement was based on the premise that best pricing for library materials is driven by volume; although Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) volume is significant, it does not compare to contract pricing provided by the state agreement, which is over 20 times our volume. Attached is a list of last year's prime library suppliers that exceed $50,000 annually and account for 73 percent of HCPS library expenditures. |
