| Approve the Grant Funded Positions for the Application to the Wallace Foundation, Principal Pipeline Initiative (PPI) (Student Services and Federal Programs Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| Hillsborough County Public Schools has submitted the PPI grant application for funding from the Wallace Foundation. The five year total for this grant will be $12.5 million. The proposed initiative will transform leadership in the district, both conceptually and structurally, by reorganizing the duties of General Area Director, Leadership (formerly Area Director), as well as restructuring the training of new principals and assistant principals. The proposed program design would be accomplished via four components outlined by the Wallace Foundation - Defined Leadership, Recruitment and Training, Hiring, and Evaluation. These components intersect at critical points with the Empowering Effective Teachers (EET) program which has been implemented by the district for over a year.
If funding is received, new positions will be needed. Further details are included on the attached chart (Attachment A). Job descriptions for the following positions are attached: General Area Director, Leadership (formerly Area Director) is modified to reflect the new name and duties and responsibilities; Director, Leadership Development; Training Coordinator; and Principal Coach (Attachment B). Specific requirements and experiences are listed in the job descriptions and available to all applicants. Should the funding for these positions not be continued after five years, the positions listed will be deleted. |
