Accept the Piggyback of Bid #27-139H, Musical Instruments and Specialty Furniture Between SoundTree and the School Board of Broward County, Florida, for the Purchase of Digital Media Lab Equipment (Business Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The digital media technology lab at Orange Grove Middle Magnet School of the Arts will be an integral part of the curriculum for three subject areas: Digital Photography, Music Technology and Composition, and Digital Film Editing. In addition to providing students with a foundation in these areas, the lab will also be used to support pilot implementation of new curricula from the state Department of Education, preceding the official roll-out in the 2012/2013 school year.
The district will be utilizing the School Board of Broward County, Florida, agreement to purchase the lab equipment, which is valid until April 30, 2012. Applicable Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) 6A1.012 and district policy allows purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, Department of Management Services (DMS), etc., at or below specified prices. The Superintendent is authorized to approve the renewal for the terms of the specifications. |

Funds of approximately $85,000 are available in the Capital Outlay and Title 1 budgets. Included in the $85,000 project cost is a $27,000 purchase for iMac computers from Apple, a sole-source supplier. | |
EVALUATION | |
Contract administration or evaluation is performed by the Project Manager (end user) and Procurement Officer, who function as a team. Reviews are conducted face to face, typically quarterly, or by utilizing an online vendor performance report. Prior to soliciting a new contract, the Contract Administration team must first give consideration to the specifications and supporting data of the expiring contract. | |
