EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Patriot Day is a day of observance to remember and honor the victims and heroes of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks and the economic impact was immense.  Ultimately the American people turned this tragedy into a triumph by fighting back against terror and turning evil into good.

Constitution Day celebrates the formation and signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.  Knowledge of the Constitution and appreciation of its significance is an essential part of civics education.

Celebrate Freedom Week was created to educate students across America about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values upon which this country was established.  Celebrate Freedom Week activities include a minimum of three hours of appropriate in-depth instruction in each K-12 social studies class on the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence.
