| Renew the Contract with the Best Proposal Submitted by Hill & Knowlton for Communication Services - RFP #10003-DST (Business Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| On March 9, 2010, the Board approved a contract that allowed the school district to partner with Hill & Knowlton to provide a range of services in the areas of marketing, consultation, and support with the goals of explaining both the overall aims of the Empowering Effective Teachers initiative and the often complex details. Hill & Knowlton was tasked with communicating the importance/relevance of the initiative, cultivating institutional and community support, and keeping employees and the public informed at key stages in the process.
The initial term of the contract was for 18 months with two additional one-year periods, provided all terms and conditions remained unchanged. This renewal will be for 12 months effective September 9, 2011 through September 8, 2012. The Superintendent is authorized to approve the renewal agreement for the terms of the specifications. |

| The 18-month contract was a not to exceed contract for $375,000; expenditures to date are $347,255. Budgeted funds of approximately $220,000 are included in the Empowering Effective Teachers Grant for Communications, Project 4148 for the next 12 months. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| Evaluation will be completed at the conclusion of the 2011/2012 school year and will involve multiple indicators measuring awareness and support of Empowering Effective Teachers among staff and community members. | |
