Approve Renewal of Agreement for Technical Services Provided to Visually Impaired Grant (Curriculum and Instruction Division, Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired - FIMC-VI)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval for the renewal of Agreement for Technical Services for the following services provided to FIMC-VI annually:

  • Nancy Toelle will provide professional development and program assistance for the 42 Florida school districts implementing the Quality Programs for Students with Visual Impairments (QPVI). Thirty-four districts are involved in the QPVI-Building Local Capacity regional workshops and eight school districts are implementing in-depth program evaluation procedures developed through QPVI. The consultant will develop training materials, deliver workshop content, and provide online support to teachers of the visually impaired and program supervisors. The consultant is the creator of the QPVI model, QPVI manual, and QPVI website. Consultant has performed these functions to the satisfaction of the Florida Department of Education since September 2008.

FIMC-VI is a statewide resource center assisting local school districts with the specialized materials needs of students with visual impairments.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds of $18,200 are included in divisional special revenue/federal programs budget (Project 2117) FIMC-VI.
EVALUATION
As required in the Additional Assurances included in the 2011/2012 Project Application, quarterly data reflecting all project activities will be maintained in the Florida Department of Education/Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services Project Tracking System.
