As part of a District-wide reconfiguration of adult education programs, District staff plans to establish a new Adult Education Administrative Center, CARIBE facility and postsecondary student services center at Learey Technical Center; and add GED and CREDIT adult teen programs at Gary Adult High School. To facilitate these programs, modular building additions and remodeling are required.

District staff combined the adult program modular requirements at Learey and Gary into a single project for execution. Staff selected Long & Associates Architects/Engineers and Halfacre Construction Company from the approved continuing services consultants list to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the installation and interior modification of a twelve unit modular facility for the Adult Education Administrative Center and CARIBE requirements at Learey Technical Center; minor modifications of the permanent facility at Learey to create a testing materials storage vault and a remodeled reception area for the post-secondary student services center; and modification of 11 administrative modulars at Gary Adult High School to provide classrooms, computer labs and administrative facilities supporting the new adult teen programs.

Project completion is scheduled for September 30, 2011.

Approval of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) will establish the cost for the project.

Construction cost is warranted at $714,173.  The construction budget is $715,000.  This item is included in the District Capital Outlay:  Workforce funding and Community Investment Tax (CIT).
