EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
October 19, 2011, is the National Day of Concern about Young People and Gun Violence.  Students throughout the United States will participate in the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence.  The pledge began in 1996, and is supported by federal, state, and local governments and law enforcement agencies.  This campaign affords the opportunity for linking networks within and across communities for honoring the role that young people themselves can play in helping to reverse violence.  Information and activity packets have been distributed to middle and high school principals in Hillsborough County.  Students will participate in school activities to heighten gun violence awareness and prevention.  More information can be found at www.pledge.org.
