Recognition of the 2011 Annual Florida Reading Association Poster Contest Winner (Secondary Education - Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Florida Reading Association (FRA) invited secondary students from Florida schools to participate in their annual Florida Reading Association Poster Contest. FRA provided the reading slogans and the students created a poster depicting the slogan of their choice. Posters were displayed at the FRA conference in September and were judged and voted on by conference attendees. The poster project is a creative way to promote literacy and global awareness and is both beneficial and motivational for adolescent readers.
The winner, a King High School International Baccalaureate Program student, received a canvas bag with $200 worth of literacy material from Barnes and Noble, a medal engraved with her name, and a poster size replica of her drawing with a first place ribbon. |
