Recognition of the 2011 Annual Florida Reading Association Poster Contest Winner (Secondary Education - Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Reading Association (FRA) invited secondary students from Florida schools to participate in their annual Florida Reading Association Poster Contest.  FRA provided the reading slogans and the students created a poster depicting the slogan of their choice.  Posters were displayed at the FRA conference in September and were judged and voted on by conference attendees.  The poster project is a creative way to promote literacy and global awareness and is both beneficial and motivational for adolescent readers.

The winner, a King High School International Baccalaureate Program student, received a canvas bag with $200 worth of literacy material from Barnes and Noble, a medal engraved with her name, and a poster size replica of her drawing with a first place ribbon.
