SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Annual Support Renewal for SILK Scheduler Software from GlobalScholar, Inc., formerly ExLogica Corporation (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This agenda item approves the ongoing annual support and software maintenance for the SILK Schedule Software.  The Superintendent is authorized to approve any renewal with no changes to the terms of the specifications.

The SILK Scheduler software was purchased from the ExLogica Corporation in 2005, for our high schools and career centers to develop their master schedules.  The SILK Scheduler software was extended to middle schools beginning with the 2007/2008 school year.  GlobalScholar, Inc. acquired ExLogica, Inc. in January 2009.

SILK Scheduler software provides various reports to the school that can: summarize units, print schedules, identify students with schedule problems, identify problems in a master schedule, identify load discrepancies among classes, and print rosters.  The SILK Scheduler software also gives schools the ability to test multiple versions of a master schedule, immediately see the results, make adjustments as needed, and create "what-if" scenarios.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The annual support renewal cost is $66,069.35. There was no increase from 2010.  Funds are included in the Information and Technology Division budget for this expense.
EVALUATION
Contract administration or evaluation is performed by the Project Manager (end user) and the Procurement Officer, who function as a team.  Reviews are conducted face to face, typically quarterly, or by utilizing an online vendor performance report.  Prior to soliciting a new contract, the Contract Administration team must first give consideration to the specifications and supporting data of the expiring contract.
