Approve Memorandum of Agreement with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. for the Provision of Services for the Full Service School Program (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Memorandum of Agreement is in effect December 14, 2011 through July 31, 2012.  The Crisis Center is offering the following programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools: 

  • The Rapid Response Student Advocacy Program is designed to reduce child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. This program will be offered to students and families at Mort and Miles Elementary Schools and Buchanan Middle School.  The district has been a partner with this program since 1996.  During that time, Rapid Response has conducted 182 presentations to 2,678 students.
  • The Child & Family Stabilization Program is designed to meet basic needs, prevent homelessness, enhance self-sufficiency, and stabilize acute financial and emotional crises of families and individuals. This program will be offered to students and families at Just and Sanchez Full Service School Centers.

Funds are generated from various community partners and awarded to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. to implement the Rapid Response Advocacy and Child & Family Stabilization Programs in the select schools with the cooperation of the Hillsborough County Public Schools.  Funds totaling $168,056 pay for the on-site program services to students and wrap-around services for their families.  These funders include:  Attorney General for the State of Florida, The Children's Board, United Way, Family Support Services of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. (Social Enterprise), and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. (Social Enterprise).

EVALUATION

The Coordinators of School Social Work Services and Full Service School Program serve as the district’s liaison between agency staff and school personnel for program implementation and development.  Participating families, educators, and students are surveyed regularly regarding program services.  The surveys are utilized to evaluate the success of the interventions.  The survey responses have been very positive with participating parents reporting they received the assistance they needed.
