SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Renewal of Agreement with The Florida Kinship Center (FKC) at the University of South Florida for the Provision of Services for the Full Service School Program (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This renewal to the Memorandum of Agreement approved on December 7, 2010, is in effect December 13, 2011 through June 30, 2012.  The FKC at the University of South Florida has received funding to continue “The Kinship Care Connection: Connecting Children, Caregivers, and Schools” for the 2011/2012 school year.  Foster, James, Sheehy, and B. T. Washington Elementary Schools have been selected to participate in this social service program.  Select Kinship Care families will receive individual and group work services, including tutoring and assistance with referrals.

• Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
HCPS provides office space and consultation services as a result of this agreement.  The Kinship Care Program staff work with identified students and their families.  The estimated cost for these services is $11,070 annually. Funds are provided to the Kinship Care program and HCPS inkind contributions.
EVALUATION
The FKC at the University of South Florida conducts ongoing research about program services.  This research team will provide a list of current studies in January 2012, and March 2012.  Program evaluation reports will be shared with the Supervisor of School Social Work Services to enhance understanding of Kinship situations and how to better serve students who are being raised by relatives other than their parents.
