Approve the Reorganization of the Central Warehouse
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As part of the District's ongoing effort to improve its business practices, the Business Process Improvement (BPI) team was asked to conduct a process review of the Central Warehouse operations to also include Mail Services and Textbook Depository.  The objective was to determine if current processes are meeting the District's needs in the most efficient and effective manner.  The current economic climate has increased the need to provide cost-effective support programs for our stakeholders.  After staff review, the recommendations proposed in the attached documents represent the first steps toward meeting this objective.  As indicated, part of the reorganization includes moving oversight of the Warehouse from the Business Division to the Facilities Division.  The BPI team will continue to work with staff to develop and execute appropriate improvement strategies.  Documentation includes: New job descriptions (Attachments A and B); Organizational Chart (Attachment C); and Recommendations and Cost Analysis Summary (Attachment D).

The financial impact represents a total savings of $214,999.75.  (Attachment D)
