| Accept the Pricing Proposal from PASCO Scientific for the Purchase of “SPARK Science Equipment” Utilized at Various Middle and High Schools (Sole-Source Provider) (Business Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| This equipment is considered sole-source and is exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies. Recognizing the last 18 months' expenditures as significant, Hillsborough County Public School personnel approached PASCO Scientific regarding direct negotiations and reached an agreement.
The discount of 5 percent, agreed to in April 2011, would continue to be the same for the remainder of this calendar year. Beginning with January 2013, PASCO will provide a discount tier that increases with coinciding accumulated expenditures in conjunction with a PASCO rebate. The rebate, worth an additional 1 to 2.25 percent, will receive free freight. Executive Summary continued on the attachment. |

| Current year-to-date expenditures are $187,739 for 2011/2012, and $514,489 for 2010/2011. Funding will be available from Title 1, Magnet Schools Assistant Program (MSAP), Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT), and the Race To The Top (RTTT) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) grants. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| At the end of the school year, a survey will be conducted with the teachers and students to gather information regarding this equipment. In addition, evaluations are performed for all funded grants as required by the grant funding authority. | |
