Accept and Contract with Capstone Digital to Provide the myOn Reader to all Students in Hillsborough County (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Capstone Digital proposes to provide all the children of Hillsborough County (preK-8) with myOn Reader. This is a comprehensive personalized reading environment that will enable children and students to access interactive, engaging digital books at home, school, public libraries, community centers or anywhere they have access to the Internet. A community-based reading initiative will be established with myON Reader through an innovative partnership between Hillsborough County Public Schools, the Children's Board, and its partners, including Hillsborough County Public Library, United Way, Tampa Housing Authority, Early Learning Coalition and Board of County Commissioners Headstart.
myON Reader uses the MetaMetrics Lexile Framework for reading to provide valid and reliable embedded assessments and scientifically-based predictions of future reading abilities. Over the course of the implementation, the initial goals of this program are to create a community of readers through the Children's Board and Hillsborough County Public Schools, provide over 2,000 online books to ALL Hillsborough County children, and collect and regularly report systematic data on individual children's reading success (quantity, time, growth). Executive Summary is continued on the attachment. |
