| Approve the Memorandum of Agreement between Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) and Lakeshore Learning Materials (Student Services and Federal Programs Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| This memorandum of agreement is in effect March 28, 2012 through June 30, 2014. The HCPS Early Childhood Program and Lakeshore Learning Materials will collaborate in the design, creation, and implementation of an indoor/outdoor demonstration prekindergarten classroom for children ages three through five. This collaboration includes one Head Start classroom and one Early Exceptional Learning Program (EELP)/Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) classroom at Doby Elementary School. These classrooms will provide early childhood experiences, which connect children to the natural environment to better understand the physical world around them. These demonstration classrooms will provide early childhood teachers the opportunity to learn more about how young children can benefit from not only a traditional classroom setting, but also bring the classroom to a more natural setting outdoors. Training opportunities will be provided for early childhood teachers and parents in the school district. The implementation of these classrooms will be ready for the 2012/2013 school year. | |
