SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Purchase of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Professional Authorized User Licenses and Training (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 26, 2011, the Board approved converting from the SAP/Business Objects reporting tool ‘Crystal Reports,’ to the IBM reporting tool ‘Cognos.’  Since then we have determined that additional staff need Cognos licenses to query data and develop reports.

The original agreement included the provision that the district has the option of purchasing additional Cognos licenses for the period of one year at the discount rate of 74.66 percent.  Training is discounted at the rate of 15 percent.

This purchase will increase the total number of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Professional Authorized User Licenses from 60 to 90, and will provide training so that district staff members have the reporting tools and training necessary to succeed.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
•Â Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funding in the amount of $121,831 for the Cognos licenses, training and payment of per diem for the onsite training is from the Information and Technology Budget.
EVALUATION
Training is monitored and evaluated for each class.
