Approve the Naming of the Gymnasium at Buchanan Middle School | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Buchanan Middle School faculty, staff and community members have requested that the gymnasium at Buchanan Middle School be named the “Dr. Dwight Raines Gymnasium” in honor of Dr. Dwight Raines.
Dr. Raines served the students in our school district for 35 years as a teacher, coach, sponsor, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Dr. Raines also served on a variety of district committees and coached little league baseball for over 15 years. Business partners, including the Caspers Company, the Humane Society and Gilbert Y. Ellis Construction Company are just a few supporting this effort. Dr. Raines emphasized to teachers and students the importance of setting the academic bar high. Dr. Raines began the “Wall of Fame” for students who achieved academic excellence throughout the school year. |
