Approve Acceptance of the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. Amendment Modification Grant Funds by the Career, Technical, and Adult Education Department, 2012/2013 (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval to accept the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. Amendment modification grant funds which are a continuation of the previous grant dated June 14, 2011. These funds are used to implement a career exploration and workplace readiness skills five-week summer camp with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. The grant is a partnership with Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc., Hillsborough Community College, Junior Achievement, and Hillsborough County Public Schools and will serve 375 eligible 14-16 year-old WIA (Workforce Investment Act) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) students. Periodic events will take place throughout the 2012/2013 school year to enrich the students understanding of the STEM careers and postsecondary opportunities. | |
