Approve Renewal Agreement with Florida Virtual School for the 2012/2013 School Year (Instructional Program Support)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The agreement between Florida Virtual School (FLVS) and Hillsborough County Public Schools establishes Hillsborough Virtual School (HVS) as a franchise of FLVS which is a statewide virtual program. Within this franchise agreement, FLVS provides online course content and materials, teacher training, a learning management system, and a student information management system.
Utilizing this franchise agreement, HVS offers a wide variety of courses to students: full-time HVS program in grades 6-12, co-enrolled district students in grades 6-12, home school students in grades 6-12, and within other programs as appropriate. |

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
All Strategic Objectives
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Expenses are paid from the FTE generated by student completion. The costs paid to FLVS are $50 per enrollment. An enrollment is equivalent to a .5 credit. The costs are not generated until the 29th day of the student’s activation in the course. This gives our students a 28-day grace period to ensure proper pacing and course activity with no financial penalty or impact to the district.
EVALUATION | |
Evaluation of the franchise program will be based on the percent of students successfully completing their coursework.
