Recognize Jefferson High School Freshman Pedro Hernandez’s Heroism for Saving a Drowning Victim.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
On Sunday, May 27, 2012, Pedro Hernandez and his parents were spending the day at Madeira Beach near John’s Pass. As Pedro and his father played paddle ball on the beach, his mother, Elizabeth, noticed a woman struggling about 100 feet off-shore. She shouted at Pedro and his dad, Pete, that the woman needed help. Pedro jumped into the water, and by the time he caught up with her she was being pulled by the strong current into the pass. He calmed her down and was able to keep her afloat until a couple on a jet ski arrived and helped him get her to shore.
