Approve the Purchase of Reading Endorsement Course Manuals (Information and Technology Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Reading Endorsement Program will be purchasing new participant training manuals for Competencies 1, 2, 3, and 4 in order to comply with new state standards for each competency. Performance Learning Systems will provide the training manual content at a cost of $150 per manual. Reading Endorsement courses have multiple course sections running fall, spring, and summer.
Approximately 320 teachers in both fall and spring participate in endorsement competencies 1, 2, 3, and 4 and approximately 160 teachers participate in summer courses. Teachers who teach identified reading courses are required to add the Reading Endorsement to their certificates. The Reading Endorsement must be added in order to remain in compliance with federally mandated requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). |
