EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Initiative: Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) implementation of a district-wide College and Career Readiness program includes two components; academic rigor for all students and a comprehensive support system. HCPS implemented SpringBoard, a Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) curriculum, for all students in 6th - 12th grade English courses and certain math courses at middle and high school level.
Goals:
Targeted Population: All students in 6th - 12th grade English and math for a total of approximately 95,000 students. Professional/Staff Development: Professional Development is provided throughout the year for teachers, administrators, and counselors. In 2011/2012, over 2,500 teachers participated in SpringBoard related professional development. Throughout the summer, teachers are provided with the opportunity to attend a variety of SpringBoard trainings that focus on delivery and content. As instructional leaders at their school sites, administrators are also provided with the opportunity to attend these trainings and to attend a CollegeBoard SpringBoard Colloquium at the beginning of every school year. |
