Approve the 2011/2012 Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start Annual Self-Assessment Report on the Delegate 1, Hillsborough County Public Schools Head Start Program (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Per the Head Start Act, reauthorized in December 2007, Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) has the responsibility to review and approve all major policies of the Head Start Program, including the annual self-assessment.  The report is an analysis of the effectiveness and progress in meeting program goals and objectives and in implementing federal regulations.  The report further identifies areas of compliance that require follow-up.

•Â Align financial resources to support the district’s strategic goals
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
There is no financial impact to the district.  Head Start is a federal grant administered by the Board of County Commissioners.  The total grant award for fiscal year 2013 is $11,108,313.  All funds are expended for the operation of the Head Start Program for services provided to eligible children and families.
EVALUATION
Financial statements are audited by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, as prescribed by law.  Federal funding for the Hillsborough County Public Schools Head Start Program flows through the Grantee, Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start.  There is no district-generated revenue used for this program.
