Summary of Modifications Made to Empowering Effective Teachers (EET) Based on Staff Input (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As we begin the third year of EET, it is important to note that the system is evolving and has been responsive to the stated needs of staff.  Examples of modifications implemented since the launch of EET include:

  • IMPACT teachers were removed from the new evaluation system while we explore rubric changes for online teachers
  • Clarified rubric language specifically for observers of ESE self-contained classrooms
  • Included more tests (such as semester 1 exams which were already being administered) to the value-added model to increase the number of measures thus improving the reliability and accuracy of the measures
  • Removed Adult Ed teachers from the new evaluation to mirror the change made for IMPACT
  • Created a new professional development course that explains the Danielson rubric in detail for teachers and conducted on-site trainings in Domain 3 during pre-planning
  • Added mentor evaluators for second year teachers so they, too, would receive additional support
  • Added more peer evaluators in order to decrease their caseload and make them more effective
  • Rewrote components of the rubric based on input from committee members and teachers
  • Changed the notification methodology for informal observations
  • Changed the weight assigned to principal and peer evaluations
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
