Provide Information Regarding the 11 Amendments to the Florida Constitution That Appear on the November General Election Ballot.  (Government Relations Division)

 
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Eleven amendments to Florida’s Constitution will be on the November 6, 2012, General Election ballot. All eleven measures are legislatively-referred constitutional amendments. A legislatively-referred constitutional amendment (LRCA) is a proposed constitutional amendment that appears on the ballot as a result of the state legislature passing a Joint Resolution to put it before the voters.  All of the measures this November were passed during the 2011 Regular Legislative Session.

Listed below are the amendments by number and title that will be on the ballot.  Amendment number seven is not listed because it was removed by court order.  Statute allows for Florida’s Attorney General to rewrite a removed proposal and the measure was rewritten and placed on the ballot again as "Amendment 8".

  • Amendment 1 – Health Care Services
  • Amendment 2 – Disabled Veterans/Eligibility for Additional Homestead Exemption
  • Amendment 3 – State Government Revenue Limitation
  • Amendment 4 – Property Tax limitation; Property Value Declines; etc.
  • Amendment 5 – State Courts
  • Amendment 6 – Prohibition of Public Funding for Abortions
  • Amendment 8 – Repeal of “No Aid” Provision (originally slated on the ballot as Amendment 7)
  • Amendment 9 – Home Exemption / Spouse of Veteran or First Responder
  • Amendment 10 – Tangible Personal Property Tax Exemption
  • Amendment 11 – Additional Homestead Exemption / Low Income Seniors
  • Amendment 12 – Board of Governors / Student Member
