Potential Impact of Federal Funding Cuts on the Salary Differential Program at High Poverty Schools | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
With the decision by Congress to allow Sequestration to occur, Hillsborough County’s Federal grants for the 2013/2014 school year will experience significant reductions. One program that may be impacted is our Salary Differential Program which provides financial incentives to recruit and retain high quality instructional staff at our district’s high poverty schools.
The Salary Differential Program is funded through federal Title I, Title II, and Title I School Improvement Funds. Once final funding levels are determined, district staff will work in collaboration with the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association to make strategic fiscal decisions so that our high poverty schools can continue to effectively recruit and retain high quality instructional staff. District staff will continue to keep the School Board informed on further developments related to this issue. |
