EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
On April 2, 2013, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Learning Media and The Henry Ford Museum announced the winners of the third-annual Teacher Innovator Awards. The Teacher Innovator Awards recognized 30 PreK-12 educators from across the country who are using digital media in new and unique ways to improve students’ learning across key subject areas.
Kelley Beall, District Resource Teacher for Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK), was recognized for her development of science lessons for preschoolers based on the popular PBS series, Sid the Science Kid, in collaboration with the Jim Henson Company and WEDU, our local PBS affiliate. These lessons are currently being used in our Hillsborough County Public Schools Head Start and VPK classrooms. As a first place winner of this award, Kelley has been invited to participate in the Innovation Immersion Workshop at The Henry Ford Museum this summer in Dearborn, Michigan. |
