Board Overview and Update of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)(Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The K-12 CCSS represent a major advance in standards for mathematics, English language arts, and literacy in history/social studies, science and technical programs. They are grounded in evidence about what it takes for high school graduates to be ready for college and careers and build on the finest state and international standards. They also provide a clear and focused progression of learning from kindergarten to high school graduation that will give teachers, administrators, parents and students the information they need for student success.
The Common Core State Standards offer an unprecedented opportunity for states across the nation to improve upon their education policies and practices and achieve systemwide reform. |
