Approve Award of Contract for Fire Alarm and Intercom System Replacements at 4 Sites (Lee, Dunbar, Progress Village and Seminole)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Work Program provides for replacement of the fire alarm and intercom systems at Lee, Dunbar and Seminole Elementary Schools, and the intercom system at Progress Village Middle School.  District staff combined the requirements into a single project and selected KBA Engineering, Inc./Tanase & Associates from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services.

The project was advertised and a single bidder responded to the solicitation (see attached bid tabulation).  The design professional has indicated that the proposed price is reasonable for the project scope. Award of the contract for construction to the bidder, Alarm & Communication Systems, Inc., is recommended.

• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total funds in the amount of $1,400,000 are included in the District Capital Outlay:  Local Millage.  The contract amount being awarded is $1,399,219.29.
